I have more than one stash to use up in my craft supplies. My yarn stash is, however, comparatively small. All my yarn fit in one box (previously home to my Cuttlebug) and one project bag.
OK, and the knitting bag which actually contains my current project, but it only contains the yarn for said current project.
I tend to stick to relatively simple crochet projects. I don’t really want to have to keep referring to a pattern, I just want to loop and hook. Stopping to check a pattern too often breaks the repetitive meditation of crochet.
My current project is an Edward’s Menagerie hippo, in a lovely grey velvety yarn. I was given four balls, and I did have hopes of using most of it for the hippo, but I suspect I’ll have at least two of them left over. I’ve already made the body (the largest piece), two legs (I need four), and the ears, and haven’t yet used up one ball. Maybe there’ll be a herd of hippos. Are they a herd?
Or a hippo with a blanket, maybe. Or I’ll make a different Edward’s Menagerie animal. I’m ever so slowly working my way through the original Edward’s Menagerie collection, although I have quite a few of the books, including the Imaginarium and the Birds. I like the Imaginarium, which is a sort of Create Your Own Monster from the many different heads, arms and feet. Perhaps there’ll be a grey velvety one of them. Previous ones I’ve made have been with rainbow yarns.
But let’s finish the hippo first. That’s taking me long enough. I started several months ago. At least. I can’t really remember when I started it, it’s been that long. It’s about time Tiny 2 had an Edward’s Menagerie animal. Tiny 1 has several.
