New month, new challenge. Well, a sub-challenge of the whole Craft My Stash challenge.
A Make-Lots-Of-Cards sort of challenge. Of course, I have also decided to make more of those notebook/journal covers, so I want to get on with them too. But the focus will be on cards.
My card stash was mostly used up last year and I have yet to replenish it, which means I’ve been missing birthdays or rushing 5-minute makes sent late. Very annoying. I don’t like having to rush a card because the birthday sneaked up on me. Or, indeed, sending it late. Even if it’s also true that most of my cards are fairly quick and simple. I don’t really have the time or patience for Fancy-Fold cards.
I have, however, just completed a card-kit which gives me a bit of breathing room, for birthday cards, but there’s also the Christmas cards, and thank-you cards. Every year, I think to myself that This Year will be The Year. The year that I make and send all my cards (and have some to spare for the people you forget when you work out how many you need; there’s always someone!). Mind you, I do have a bit of birthday-breathing-room now anyway, since the summer is largely devoid of birthdays for my circle.
So, the (Sub)Challenge: To make a card a day. Using my stash. Stamps as well as pretty papers.
Of course, I do also have photos to scrap alongside this (Tiny 1’s scrapbook is on the verge of being filled up! I nearly said finished, but that doesn’t seem quite right. The photos will instead migrate to Family Albums, to include Tiny 2 too), so I expect some of my papers will be used for that too. Really, as long as I use up papers, instead of leaving them to look pretty. Make room for the next round of pretty papers I can’t resist. I’m feeling pretty good though, because I’ve very nearly finished a scrapbook project for which some of my papers were specifically bought. Didn’t use as much of the packs as I’d thought, but hey ho. Win some, lose some. I have no doubt they will come in useful at a later date.
If you’d like to follow my card-making challenge more regularly, I will be attempting to post photos as close to daily as I can on Instagram, where you can find me as @cecy_thepaperdragon
