When it comes to adhesive for my projects, I like a tape-runner or double-sided tape. I don’t really get on with liquid glues: I always seem to use too much and then it warps my paper or card.
For years, I’ve thought the idea of Stampin’ Up!’s Tear & Tape to be genius. Double-sided tape you don’t need scissors to cut. No longer ending up with sticky scissors – huzzah! I’ve never bought any, because £6.75 (0r £5ish if a demo, plus shipping, of course) has always seemed just a tad excessive when compared to other craft suppliers for a quid or two. I’ve put up with sticky scissors.

Sometimes I’ve had the Tear & Tape in kits, and it has been all that. Tearable sticky tape. One fewer item for the making of cards or the sticking of scrapbooks. One fewer thing to lose in the mess of the desk. I’ve been tempted. Sorely tempted. But not quite enough to justify the price-tag.
I still have not specifically bought Tear & Tape. I haven’t been all that impressed by their Stampin’ Seal tape-runner either.
Imagine, however, my delight, my excitement, the mind-blown-ness, of a recent discovery: Hobbycraft’s double-sided sticky tape is TEARABLE. Game-changer. I presume this means that all double-sided sticky tape is.
Sticky scissors no more!
And I know, it’s a silly thing to be so happy about, but it’s the little things. Who knew tearable tape was one of those things?!
As for tape runners, so far my front runner is the one from The Works, for £1, except it’s only 5m of tape so doesn’t last very long, and isn’t refillable. I’ve gone through quite a few recently, as I whizz through a scrapbook project.
Ah – scratch that. Since writing the above, I’ve had a new late-comer to the race which is sped to the lead.
My top tape-runner now is the helpfully refillable E-Z Runner. Definitely the best one I’ve tried, and I’ve tried quite a few brands (SU!, Hobbycraft, Crafter’s Companion, Stix2; probably others and non-branded ones too).
But anyway, the excitement of the week was the discovery of being able to tear double-sided sticky tape. Amazing!
