2026.13: Easter Baskets

It feels like a while since I did any crafting. Partly, this is because I haven’t been able to keep up with the adhesive I’ve needed for the scrapbooking. It takes more than I’d considered and I keep running out. Honestly, who knew sticking so many bits of paper together would take so much glue??

image shows three baskets made from paper in different sizes.

Anyway.

This week I seem to be making up a bit for lost time. I’ve managed a card, a scrapbook page, and three baskets.

The baskets are tester versions. The first, from a piece of 6×6 paper, using the original dimensions given by Claire from Created the Ottaway, whose video gave me the inspiration. The second, however, is a large version using 12×12 paper, and the third a medium from 9×9. That one took a bit longer because of having to cut a piece of paper to size.

The small basket comfortably holds, and carries, seven or eight mini creme eggs (about a bagful, so 70-odd g, seen in the bottom of the medium basket). I haven’t yet filled the larger ones to see what they could manage. I reckon Lindt bunnies should fit, and the small 90g Easter eggs. Well, in the large one. The medium might take the bunnies, but it probably needs smaller eggs.

But they’re really easy to make.

You need a piece of reasonable weight paper or cardstock, in a square of dimensions easily divided by three (or less easily if you like a mathematical challenge). Score it into nine squares (so if using the 6×6 paper, at 2” and 4”; 3″ and 6″ for 9×9; and 4″ and 8″ for 12×12), and then diagonally in the corner squares only.

Fold and burnish all score lines, and then punch a small hole in each corner. Thread ribbon or string or something through the holes and pull shut. Tie a bow. Ta-daaa!

The handle should be a half inch strip (small), a three-quarter inch strip (medium), or a one inch strip (large) of paper. As you can see, the strip I used for the medium basket is really too wide.
