It’s only taken about ten months, but I finally have a corner to call my own. A small space for my crafting needs. No longer do I share the dining table, which was a thoroughly unsatisfactory arrangement for all concerned.
Admittedly my space is now smaller than it used to be, and I still haven’t organised my supplies properly, but it is mine. And it is usable. So I should be able to get back to pretty paper adventures.
One problem I found when I had half of the office upstairs was that I didn’t really use my desk very often. So this time, I have claimed an otherwise impractical sort of corner (there’s a main light switch at an annoying distance from the other wall), and a small corner desk (which is almost the perfect size for my A2 cutting mat). And I’m trying not to mind too much that the walls aren’t at 90 degrees. They aren’t too far off, so there’s only a small gap along each edge. To be fair, the desk doesn’t have back-panels, so it doesn’t matter if items do slip down. But it’s still annoying.
But I need to work out how best to replace the Kallax. I suspect I’ll have pegboards in my future, for smaller supplies, but that still leaves, well, everything else. Some sort of shelving, along with my handy trolley-cart.
It’s true, I could try extreme discipline with purchasing, or extreme ruthlessness in donating to a charity shop or similar, but both of those seem unlikely. So nifty storage is the answer.
So if anyone has any suggestions for storage in a small crafting space, I’m all ears.
