I’ve spent quite a lot of the last few weeks wrapped up in the pile of scrapbook kits. I’ve actually managed to complete one this last week.
I spent a happy hour or so cutting up the papers per the instructions and cutting the photos down to size, and then spent moments during the week putting together at least the bases of each page. I haven’t yet stuck down all the photos, and therefore any embellishments which might be needed to go over said photos, or tucked behind them. That will probably happen in odd moments in the coming week.
On the one hand, it’s been quite relaxing relinquishing the creative control to the instructions. I haven’t had to think about layouts or how best to arrange photos or which of my paper collection will be used.
On the other, they were all far more complicated than I have been making for Tiny’s scrapbook. I’m still trying to figure out what my scrapbooking Style might be, but I’m not hugely sure if this is what it is. M is of the opinion that the combination of papers is all just a bit busy. Certainly I ended up adding mats for the photos on some pages so they didn’t disappear into the patterned paper behind. A small danger in leafy photos on autumnal themed papers.
The other issue I had was not following the precise measurements for placing each layer of paper: for the first few pages I just sort of eyeballed it, from the finished image, so placements are all just a little bit off. Oops. Oh well. Artistic licence, or something.
But I had fun.
I might, in future, stick to the separate paper and sticker packs, and scrapbooks, rather than the kits, but we’ll see how I get on with the rest of the kits I currently have.
I’m pleased with how the pages turned out. I’m just not sure how well I like them.
