One of the biggest dangers of crafting is find an exciting new project which requires you to purchase lots of new supplies.
Fortunately, Hobbycraft’s ribbon notice board project not only had free instructions, but also only required me to head out for a canvas board and a staple gun. And a staple gun feels like the sort of thing that any self-respecting household should have anyway, so I don’t think it really counts.
Anyway, I’ve had the fabric I used for a couple of years, originally with the plan of turning it into a quilt for Tiny, so I also had wadding. Unfortunately, my mother is a much faster quilter than I am, despite also embroidering beautiful gold-work beetles, and beat me to it. Which left me with an abandoned quilt in need of a new project.
And what self-respecting craft room doesn’t have a box of ribbons?
It was a very quick sort of project. Very easy and straightforward. I may yet add some of the buttons from my button-jar (also a staple of any self-respecting craft room) for a bit of decoration. I’ve also got a T-rex patch which might find its way on too.
I think I used a bigger canvas than the instructions suggested, and clearly my ribbon spacing could do with some practice, but now Tiny’s crafting has a space to go.
Now I just need some more project ideas to use up the rest of the dinosaur fabric and quilt wadding.
