One side-effect of being a crafter is that there’s a tendency to hoard things. Just in case. Or because there’s a project there. It’ll come in handy. I could make something with that.
It’s a bad habit, and my craft room is rather spilling over with things I’m saving, for projects both imagined and not yet thought of. The not yet thought of is mostly for the chest of fabrics, it’s true.
Empty coffee tins, or hot chocolate tubs, have a habit of finding their way into the craft room, for the Christmas truffles and other such treats I make. And then not being used, because I can never find the time/inclination/inspiration to decorate them.
Until now.
We discovered a Lindt shop earlier this year, with the pic’n’mix truffles. Not just the normal ones you get in the standard boxes from the supermarket, but lots of other flavours too. Amaretto. Pistachio. Mint. Raspberry. Popcorn. Mango. Naturally, we tried them all.
And, just as naturally, the wrappers made their way to the craft room. Perfect, I thought, for the coffee tins. With the bonus of confusing the recipient, who will probably be expecting Lindt truffles when they open the tin.
They can also be used for making matching cards, though I haven’t yet worked out the best way of making them festive. Birthdays, or thank yous, or just because, or get well soons, yes. Those I can do. Still experimenting for Christmas, though.
I used double-sided sticky tape with the wrappers on the tin, and then went over the seams (as it were) with washi tape. The card, I used liquid glue for the wrappers, and dimensionals for the sentiment.
Didn’t take very long, either, for the tin or the card, which will hopefully encourage me to get the rest done and reduce the pile of pretty wrappers. I’ll have to find other uses for them too. Perhaps for wrapping the truffles I put in the tins…

Cool! I’ll have to tell the crafter in our family – my daughter x
